Join Us for the AP Korea Open Seminar on September 6, 2025 (Saturday)!
We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming Open seminar on the topic: “Expanding Play and Interests to Effectively Replace Self-Stimulatory Behaviors.”
Self-stimulatory behaviors (also known as stimming) are common among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). These behaviors may serve as a source of sensory enjoyment, emotional regulation, or an expression of personal interest.
However, when such behaviors interfere with daily life, learning, or social interactions, functional replacement strategies become essential.
Rather than focusing solely on suppressing self-stimulatory behaviors, this seminar will explore ways to expand play skills and interests that not only fulfill the child’s needs but also provide socially acceptable alternatives.
Expanding play and interests not only serves as a replacement for self-stimulatory behaviors, but can also lead to broader positive outcomes such as:
- Developing social skills, including playing with peers
- Introducing new hobbies and leisure activities
- Creating opportunities for communication and interaction
These are essential skills for our children, offering benefits that reach far beyond behavior replacement. We look forward to sharing meaningful insights and strategies with you, and we warmly invite your interest and participation.
Thank you.
